Bluegrass @artsNCT

Bluegrass @artsNCT

Chestnut Hill Bluegrass Band returns to ARTSNCT, Newcomerstown’s new arts center on Friday, November 16 for a second fundraiser benefiting the center’s programs.

Mark Hardesty, a band member, and Michael Wise, the center’s executive director were classmates at Newcomerstown High School. Wise said, “Mark attended our class reunion that was held at ARTSNCT in August. When he saw what we were trying to accomplish and provide to the community, he and his brother, Duane, quickly volunteered to donate their time, talent, and resources to help raise funds for our proposed programs. They and their fellow bandmembers are outstanding musicians and they want to see ARTSNCT succeed.”

Wise said other Newcomerstown classmates were also impressed at the reunion and have donated time, money, and support to help bring the arts to the community.

Bluegrass @artsNCT, Friday, November 16, 7-9pm, is free and open to the public with a free-will donation at the door.

ARTSNCT is located at 304 South College Street, Newcomerstown. (740) 575-5710 www.artsNCT.org

ARTSNCT's First Annual Manuel Yingling Music Award

ARTSNCT will present its First Annual Manuel Yingling Music Award to Dixie Lee Hayes Heck, a 1960 graduate of Newcomerstown High School, at a luncheon on October 24, 2018; the 3rd Annual Manuel Yingling Day.

The seed for the first Manuel Yingling Day was planted by our director, Michael Wise when he was the editor of The Newcomerstown News.

Michael added Mr. Yingling to the masthead with Cy Young and Woody Hayes to educate readers that there were additional sons and daughters of Newcomerstown to recognize.

He then asked the mayor to proclaim October 24 as Manuel Yingling Day and asked the historical society and public library to honor Mr. Yingling with special programs. They did and our Manuel Yingling Day was born.

Manuel Yingling was a member of the John Phillip Sousa Band and a world-known trombone soloist.

ARTSNCT's Manuel Yingling Music Award is to be presented annually for Excellence in Music.

Nominations are submitted by peers, teachers, clergy or other arts and education professionals. Both, graduating high school seniors and local adults are eligible to receive this honor. Winners are chosen with regard to performance skills, musical participation in groups and events, community involvement, and the selfless sharing and promotion of music through volunteerism.

Please come and see who receives our first award.

Sabrina Fair

Performances - October 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, & 20

Directed by Kathy Bergstrom

The play is set on Long Island in the 1950s and deals with the involvement of a very rich family named Larrabee with Sabrina Fairchild, the daughter of their family chauffeur. She is bright, well-educated, and has just returned from five years in Paris, where she has done a brilliant job as an executive in a U.S. government overseas office. She has come home to find out if she is still in love with the younger Larrabee son, David. The elder son, Linus, a cynical, good-humored tycoon who has taken control of the family fortune, detects Sabrina's feeling for his brother, and for his own amusement lays a trap to bring them together. It works: David falls in love with Sabrina and wants to marry her. At the same time, a rich young Frenchman who has known Sabrina in Paris turns up and asks her to marry him. Faced with this dilemma, Sabrina discovers it is really Linus she wants.

The Feud 2.0 (now ramped up with even more 'crazy')

THE FEUD IS BREWING

Similar to Family Feud ... but not.
More hilarious ... more action ... more entertaining
... AND NOW RAMPED UP WITH EVEN MORE CRAZY!

Our 'Feud' set is near completion and we are now accepting team registrations.

1. Assemble a team of your dearest and craziest friends and family members.
2. Choose a name for your team, i.e. Super Heroes, Little Rascals, Addams Family, or simply The Matrix, The Ugly Sweaters, Team Hamilton, or Team Disney, etc.
3. Register your team via text or message to ARTSNCT.
4. Prepare for battle.

If you are thinking that The Feud is like a television game show that has a similar title, you are wrong "X".

A. Teams are required to 'dress up' as a team character you choose to represent. The 'dressing up' part may be minimal (example: a hat or a glove) or to the max (example: full costume and makeup) or somewhere in between … You decide … however, bonus points will be awarded for Best Character.
B. The Feud has seven (7) possible answers to each question.
C. If a team gives three (3) wrong answers ("X" "X" "X"), that team is considered to be 'behind the eight ball' and may choose the "Eight Ball" for a chance to redeem themselves. If chosen, the team or a team member must complete the mission as stated by the Eight Ball to stay in the game. Each team may only choose The Eight Ball once during the game.
D. The team with the highest number of points obviously wins, BUT the bonus points for Best Character are added at the end of the game which could upset the results of the game.
The Feud will be held monthly at ARTSNCT.
You will not want to miss participating in the games or watching it 'Live in Living Color' in the arts center!

Game show hosts are Michael Wise and Nash Bricker.

REGISTER A TEAM NOW!

THE FEUD.
